Dick Watkins: Iconic Paintings

Known for his large-scale paintings that explore cubist, pop and abstract expressionist principles, Sydney artist Dick Watkins is celebrated in ‘Iconic paintings’, his first exhibition with Scott Livesey Galleries.

Watkins’ modular interlocking forms and primary colours have played an important role in his compositions for almost 60 years. Citing cubism, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell and Willem De Kooning as his influences alongside cinema, literature and the everyday happenings that surround him, Watkins has produced an eclectic oeuvre.
