Fine Arts Fire Ants
Essays by Ian Friend
Artbunker

Eleven short essays comprise this first volume of ‘Fine Arts Fire Ants’. Ian Friend’s compilation of autobiographical texts penned over several years while in England and Australia share the artist’s interests in music, poetry and cricket, his friendships, teachers and inspirations, and matters of concern within the visual arts. He draws the analogy that his fish pond (once a swimming pool) is, “a haven of peace, a place to pause and consider life and it’s complications” adding, “the more you look the more you see, a bit like looking at good art.” Volume Two considers the relationship between visual artists and poets, due for publication in November, 2017.
