Identity, gender and cultural heritage are themes explored by 23 Australian artists in this unique exhibition. “Artists are exploring the role of theatre and adornment in contemporary life in fascinating ways. Through props, make-up, costume and fashion, artists are creating striking imagery that feeds into universal themes such as identity, gender and cultural heritage,” Banyule Council’s Art Curator Claire Anna Watson said.
“Feeling ‘comfortable in one’s own skin’ is an expression that has multiple meanings in today’s age. This exhibition offers the opportunity to consider how fashion, costume and make-up influence and affect the human experience and the human condition.”
