Shireen Taweel, Hoda Afshar and Leila El Rayes explore the fractured beauty of the sacred and the mundane, and the ways that private, spiritual and deeply personal matters of the hearts and minds of Muslim communities in Australia have been turned inside-out – as a consequence of faith, culture and identity open to debate in the public domain across mainstream media. Affirming their experiences the artists embrace traditional motifs, symbols, narratives and artforms to reclaim, repatriate and replenish inner sanctum.
