Velvet, Iron, Ashes

Take a step back in time with this interactive exhibition, which draws on the library as a portal to explore Victoria’s history and discover unexpected links between some of the state’s most influential people, events and icons including Ned Kelly, the Ashes Urn, Freddo Frog, Yallourn Power Station and even Nappie Wash. Over 200 works from the State Library of Victoria’s collection, other major institutions and private collections are on view. Highlights include the armour worn by Ned Kelly and the Ashes Urn, among a display of paintings, maps and photographs.
