Abdul Abdullah: Melbourne Art Fair

Fehily Contemporary presents the work of Perth-based artist Abdul Abdullah as part of their exhibition stand at the 2012 Melbourne Art Fair.

Abdullah works across varying mediums to explore his cultural and religious background within the context of his family’s history. Of the photograph illustrated, he explains “the title lists the first names of; me, then my father, then his father and his father, going back seven generations to the first Charles who was the convict who arrived here on the Indefatigable in 1815. The tile refers to lineage and dynasty, while also demonstrating the personal cultural revolution that my father took when he converted and how that has effected the line”.
