For ‘Coming Home’, Melbourne-based artist Alex Martinis Roe presents a new body of work centred around a four-channel video produced between lockdowns and over Zoom, which reveals personal stories of a small community of Jewish feminist lesbians in Adelaide, called the JAFLs. From their private living spaces, the women discuss their experiences of marriage, dissolution, coming out, fleeing home, and finding a sense of belonging and refuge – ‘coming home’. Shown as part of a larger installation, co-designed with Basel-based designer Vela Arbutina.
