This exhibition is an attempt to absorb the metaphysical implications of our civilization in transition. The paintings are depictions of landscapes that run the course of a day from dawn until evening. In his compositions, Mezei is searching for man’s place in nature and our interaction with the ecosystems that support our existence.
Mezei explores how technology is at once man’s means for survival but also, potentially, our demise. “The paintings explore this duality through objects which could be either ruins or jewels in a landscape where humans might ultimately be reconciled to nature, or entirely extinguished from it”, Mezei explains.
