Angela Bettess: Colours of the Australian Dream

‘Colours of the Australian Dream’ is a series of work inspired by Australian personalities and classic Australian icons. The quintessential Aussie family home is a prominent subject for Bettess but an innate affection for the cattle dog, the FX and FJ Holden vehicles, the country cake stall, the Australian outback, and even home-knitted socks have become features in this body of work.

With a deep affinity for rich colours, Bettess’ palette speaks to the intense vibrancy of Australia’s landscape. It is this dialogue that has been the primary influence and informed this body of work.
