This major exhibition celebrates the magnificent bark paintings and larrakitj (painted hollow poles) by women artists from the Buku Larrngay Mulka Centre (Buku) in Northeast Arnhem Land.
Yolngu creation stories, conceptions of the universe, fire, and vibrant contemporary paintings exploring rhythm, tonality and gesture, are on view alongside beautiful optical illusions by Dhuwarrwarr Marika, waterlilies by Malaluba Gumana, monochromatic stars by Naminapu Maymuru-White, bold pink and blue visions by Nonggirrnga Marawili and Dhambit Mununggurr, and treasured paintings by the late Ms Wirrpanda.
