The confluence of recent economic and sociocultural change brought on by an increase in high-density housing developments, expanding suburban reach and the construction of Canberra’s light rail has led to the emergence of a number of newly built environments in our nation’s capital. Katie Hayne captures these changes in her study of architectural patterns, natural flora and human habitation at the Northbourne Avenue Public Housing Precinct, while Phil Page documents the palimpsest of redesigned structures and outlines the beat of urban activity.
