South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival 2020

The 2020 iteration of the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival encouraged participating artists to reflect on the restricted movement this year has seen. Adapting to the current climate, SALA anticipated it’s program, running from 1 to 31 August, would be delivered solely online for the first time, via the SALA website and app. Easing restrictions has instead seen a return to traditional venues – such as Art Gallery of South Australia, where this year’s featured artist, Kristen Coelho, is exhibiting alongside Margaret Dodd and Tom Moore.

Meanwhile, online events including virtual exhibitions, video artist talks and studio tours will concurrently be available, to allow participants to engage with the festival while adhering to social distancing measures. CEO of SALA Kate Moskwa said, ‘In these changing and challenging times connection to our community is important… this is the time to experiment with your arts practice and take creative risks. The world is looking to engage in different ways, and art plays a critical role in how we connect with one another.’
