‘The Alchemists’ is an exhibition of Aboriginal fibre-based works by artists and art centres from across Australia whose woven creations come to form through the traditions of using found and natural materials.
From palm fronds, minarri grass and other harvested plants to washed-up plastic fishing nets, sea kelp and bird feathers of varying species, as well as dyes, yarns and threads fabricated from other raw materials, we see art and alchemy come together as creative representations of story and place.
