The Fringes: Flinders + Adelaide

The term “fringe” refers to work that resides on the outer edges of the mainstream, the unconventional. Living up to the name, fringe festivals are a platform for independent artists to showcase their work, engage new audiences, and network with fellow creatives within a vibrant festival environment. This month, the Flinders Fringe program focuses on community and the natural world, and includes a lineup of artists delivering dance, puppetry, performance, music and comedy; workshops for writing, painting, drawing, printmaking, and “movement”; panel discussions, short film screenings, and exhibitions, including a large-scale sculptural ‘ear’ installation – at various venues across Flinders in Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula from 21 to 23 February 2025.

Heading west, Adelaide Fringe’s curated program includes Adelaide Writers’ Week alongside a cross-section of theatre, circus, music, dance, community events (such as pancake festivals, roller derbies, a First Nations festival with interactive workshops), and art exhibitions – across a number of venues in Adelaide from 21 February to 23 March 2025.
