This exhibition draws on the strong holdings of artworks by Western Australian women artists in The University of Western Australia Art Collection and the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art. It seeks to champion these artists, who may not be household names due to gender disparity or the tyranny of distance but deserve to be acknowledged for their dedication to practice. The exhibition is by no means a cyclopeadic list of all Western Australian women artists, but instead focuses on two key strengths across both Collections: portraiture and abstraction.
