Robert Fielding has won the $100,000 acquisitive Hadley’s Art Prize for a work where stacked abandoned car wrecks become embodiments of Country, carrying the traces of ceremony, journeys, family, and time, while existing simultaneously as symbols of presence and absence. The artist – of Pakistani, Afghan, Western Arrernte and Yankunytjatjara descent – lives and works in Mimili on the APY Lands.

Natasha Bieniek, Brenda Croft, Kim Leutwyler, and Betty Muffler were Honourable Mentions, with other winners including Kelsey Ashe of the $10,000 Hadley’s Residency Prize.
