Known for tightly choreographed photographs, here, Melbourne-based Samantha Everton presents thirteen-year-olds navigating familiar domestic interiors overwhelmed by spectacle; everyday spaces inhabited by bejewelled foods, cult toys, fantastical animals, oversized insects . . . like unwelcome inheritances. The culture of excess, meticulously staged, playful icons of childhood swell to monstrous scale in scenes that echo the visual language of fantasy and fairytale yet carry an undertone of unease.
