BETWEEN TWO WORLDS

BETWEEN TWO WORLDS aims to create conversations between artists and audiences while promoting the diversity of works of art being produced by Australian artists of Chinese heritage.

BETWEEN TWO WORLDS explores cultural identity, globalisation, settlement and the notion of “the journey” by artists who have lived, worked and are connected to China and Australia through migration, major historical events and Australia’s agricultural and industrial developments.

The exhibition of installation, painting, photography, sculpture and video is drawn from the Newcastle Art Gallery collection, the National Portrait Gallery and other public and private lenders from around Australia. It showcases four generations of Chinese Australian artists alongside Aboriginal artists exploring their own Chinese heritage.
