Sydney’s newest gallery .M Contemporary, located on Ocean Street, Woollahra, launches with an exciting solo show by renowned South African artist Lyndi Sales entitled Levitate.
.M Contemporary’s director, Michelle Paterson, says that her intention in opening the gallery is to support Australian and international emerging and established artists, which accounts for her choice of opening exhibition in the work of Lyndi Sales. Levitate is an exhibition about perception and vision, past, future and present. The show features a series of small and large scale pieces that are both emotive and striking, exploring these themes with the same delicacy, detail and contemplation that is inherent in all her works. Sales represented South Africa in the 2011 Venice Biennale, among her many other artistic achievements internationally, including solo shows at Galerie Maria Lund in Paris, Toomey Tourell in San Francisco, and at various galleries in South Africa, USA, Austria, London, Holland and Denmark.
Keep an eye out for .M Contemporary at the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, at Carriageworks in September, featuring work by Sales.
