Bruce Nuske creates utilitarian objects, such as teapots and pouring vessels, that draw on his understanding of decorative arts, from Chinoiserie to Wedgewood, Japanese ceramics to the British Arts and Crafts movement. His hand-built ceramics incorporate intricate surfaces decorated with botanical designs and rich glazes.
In this third project in Samstag’s exhibition series focusing on renowned Tarntanya/Adelaide-based practitioners, Nuske’s work is set against the singular approach of the late furniture and exhibition designer Khai Lieu, enriching and heightening the gallery experience.
