Fischer’s paper installations explore ideas of reproduction, consumption and globalisation. Branded street litter from around the globe is fabricated as homogenous paper replicas, painstakingly crafted out of paper and foamcore.
Scrunched up Coke cans, McDonald’s wrappers and Marlboro packets that may be found anywhere are tossed together with iconic local brands like Fosters beer cans, piled and scattered around the edges of the gallery. In Fisher’s hands, sullied globalisation is nimbly repackaged as generic design chic.
