Cherry Hood presents new watercolours in her first exhibition in Perth since 2005. The Archibald Prize winner, 2002, is renown for her composite portraits of pre-adolescent subjects that hold the viewer’s attention with a hypnotic gaze. This look is perhaps a cue to the innocence and intensity of a child’s understanding of our world, and the subjective lens through which we see them. Hood’s sentient images reflect her interest in gender politics and taboos surrounding the depiction of the male body.
