Coco Meacham

Darwin is a mecca of discordant architecture, a visual history of colour fads and styles. When removed from their context these buildings and spaces become strangely beautiful for their repetition in colour, line and form.

From this enduring fascination with Darwin’s exteriors and interiors, the body of the work explores the interaction and conversation between these elements. Through the exploration of colour and line, these everyday spaces and forms become less and less representational. They take on their own sense of self and character outside of function and context.
