The clock, moments from the stroke of midnight, the spired bell tower, a black swan floating alert on serene, yet darkened waters. Misty forests, sandstone walls and illuminated crimson climbing roses, a flock of birds perhaps trapped in a timeless spell fly high overhead, pretty glittered slippers, a silver crown.
These images comprise the ‘Dark Fairy Tale’ by Jenny Bolis. Inspired by traditional children’s literary tales she presents a book of intimate small-scale, full bleed photographs of works in a palette of grey, black and silver. Bolis has created moments of anticipation and wonder at the transformations that emerge from the spellbinding fairy tale world. A series of prints are available.
