Essays on Earth is a collaboration between multidisciplinary artist Brodie Ellis, painter and printmaker John Wolseley, and poet Paul Kane, uniting their shared love for and observations of the natural world.
Each artist draws attention to individual elements with expansive ecological systems through multiple art forms. Arranged in dialogue with the elemental themes and poetic reflections of Kane’s recent series of “verse essays”, titled Earth, Air, Water, Fire, 2022. Wolseley’s nature paintings and woodcut prints of the Whipstick Forest are presented alongside Ellis’ sculptural field studies cast in bronze and impressed into clay.
