Marking the first retrospective of Ocean Grove-based artist Janet Dawson, whose mediums have included drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, Far Away, So Close spans more than six decades.
With over eighty works drawn from major Australian public and private collections, many rarely seen, it unfolds chronologically and includes important paintings from across Dawson’s career, from abstract paintings The origin of the Milky Way, 1964, and Old cloudy moons 1 and 2, 1979, to later explorations of the natural world, with Scribble Rock cauliflower, 1993–97, and Scribble Rock pomegranates, 1999.
