This exhibition explores the nature of chairs as both invisible and symbolic, decorative and functional objects, from impromptu assemblages of available materials to masterpieces of sophisticated craftsmanship.
Low Stakes is an exercise in design, materials and function. The brief was simple – create an object that can be sat on. It could be a couch, a recliner, a chair, a bench, a stand, a throne or a stool. Utilising play and anonymity as its core philosophy, every piece on display is nameless, encouraging impartial designer experimentation and viewer interpretation.
