The first major survey of this Melbourne-based artist, and the first in the gallery’s mid-career artist series, Lane Cormick works across collage, drawing, experimental photography, performance, sculpture and collaborative projects.
His work is driven by the cultural dynamics of fame, celebrity and failure, an ongoing exploration of skill and technique, and the pitfalls and pursuit of ambition. Reflecting a spirit of dialogue, openness and unpredictability, the exhibition is structured as a living studio of ideas; experiments, remnants of past performances and completed works sit alongside fresh interpretations and conceptual continuations.
