Gentle Protagonist: Art of Michael McWilliams

In development for over two years, this is the first public exhibition of Tasmanian painter Michael McWilliams.

Known for detailed, quirky and whimsical landscapes featuring wildlife, including domestic and feral species, Gentle Protagonist: Art of Michael McWilliams features one hundred works from the artist’s thirty-four-year career – many of which, while often humorous, frequently carry a darker observation on the impact of humans on the environment. With most works on loan from private collections and homes around Australia, this is a rare opportunity to see so many on display together.
