Zanny Begg is known for her socially engaged practice, employing documentary filmmaking, performance and printmaking to explore issues of social and environmental justice.
Reflecting on the origins of the women’s refuge movement in Australia and ongoing crisis of gendered violence, this exhibition features the film Elsie (and Minnie), which tells a feminist history of Elsie Women’s Refuge through archival footage and first-person interviews, and a three-channel video installation, The Yellow Wallpaper, where six women share their personal experiences and responses to domestic violence, set against a hand-drawn yellow wall covering.
