From 4 to 15 April ‘Festival 2018’ is showcasing arts and cultural events to celebrate and share the excitement of the Commonwealth Games. With Queensland festivities spilling out across the Gold Coast to Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns, visitors can partake in a full program of visual arts, music, theatre, circus, dance and film by local, national and interstate artists and performers.
Highlights include: ‘The Night Watch’ at The Walls Art Space, Miami, Yothu Yindi and The Treaty Project performing at Surfers Paradise and Luke Jerram’s floating seven-metre-wide ‘Museum of the Moon’ sculpture in Chinatown, Southport. North to Brisbane and ‘Botanica Contemporary Art Outside’ enlivens the City Botanic Gardens, while ‘Big Design’ becomes a site for temporary public artworks on the Cairns Esplanade.
