The Friends of the National Art School will hold its seventh Annual Plate Auction on Thursday November 15, showcasing a diverse body of work from some of the country’s leading artists; including Reg Mombassa, Peter Godwin, Elisabeth Cummings, Euan Macleod, Wendy Sharpe, Garry Shead, Guy Warren and Federal Minister for Health/erstwhile artist Tanya Plibersek. Presented by the National Art School, located in the old Darlinghurst Gaol, the auction will offer attendees the opportunity to purchase over 100 original plates and jugs, to be auctioned throughout the evening. All proceeds will go to the National Art School, supporting staff, students and graduates, including the provision of studio time at the Cité International Des Arts in Paris, an artists’ residence. Established in 1994, FoNAS have provided critical support to the NAS, staging numerous promotional events, activities and student prizes each year. This auction provides a fantastic opportunity to support FoNAS and the NAS, as well as the chance to observe and purchase work by some of Australia’s outstanding artists.
