Four Photographers: Four Performative Acts

With diverse practices covering still, time-based, installation and sculptural elements, this photographic group exhibition looks at the performance aspects of artists behind the lens. The images invite the audience to consider the relationships between the act of making a photograph in a particular time and space and the potential new artworks that emerge from this performance.

The photographers – Mari Hirata, Kathy Mackey, Alana Hampton and Mandana Mapar – will explore the aesthetic opportunities that occur out of the simple four walls of the space and also with strategies including projection, sound, objects, and cameras. The artists will then use the unknown elements of the collaboration as ideas for its next iteration.
