Peta Jones, Michael Desmond, Bryn Desmond-Jones, and Ossian Desmond-Jones each present their own interpretation of place in this exhibition which celebrates the beautiful, complex natural environment of Canberra’s Black Mountain.
Michael presents tall, thin paintings, a format popular in the late-nineteenth century, to test composition and interpret the region via a personal mythology. The adaptation of the Meow Argus butterfly inspires Peta’s drawings and sculptures. Bryn exhibits prints and cutouts, while Ossian uses alternative processes, such as cyanotypes, carbon prints, and bromoils, to capture Black Mountain from multiple angles.
