This exhibition marks the culmination of a four-decade practice exploring the interconnection of nature and humanity.
Wandering the coastlines of Bronte and the industrial streets of Alexandria in Sydney, Gabrielle Courtenay collects found objects and natural forms, transforming them into sculptures and paintings that channel the living energies of the environment. Central to the exhibition is the motif of the eye – traditionally a symbol of protection and insight, reimagined by Courtenay as nature’s eye, a portal between the seen and unseen, reminding us that the natural world actively watches, responds, and remembers.
