George Aslanis: Experiments in Light

‘Experiments in Light’ is a retrospective survey of contemporary Australian glass artist, George Aslanis (1960-2016), who inspired many to develop their passion and understanding of the artform. Drawing from cultures past and present Aslanis combined various elements to create visually complex cast glass sculptures. The question of what exists beneath their textured exterior surface – the interior life often unseen – is a key to Aslanis’ work.

“Glass is a material in a state of becoming, an endless multiplicity of potentials.” – George Aslanis
