Sydney’s CBD transformed into a live artistic hub

The Hunter Street Urban Art Intervention sees eight renowned Australian urban artists – James Lesjak-Atton (Aquaman), Brett Chan, Chris Yee, Regan Tamanui, Jodee Knowles, Nadia Hernandez, Sprinkles and Shannon Crees – transform two blank shipping containers into lively pieces of art, revamping Hunter Street in Sydney’s CBD into a temporary live artistic hub.

Over the last two weeks city workers, residents, shoppers and tourists have witnessed the progression of these large-scale artworks, watching and observing from every street angle. With urban creative and artistic flare, these artists have revamped a business district into a contemporary street corner and fine art landscape. This two-week live program is concluded with a week-long public exhibition on view until 31 July 2016. The finished artworks will be gifted to a charity at the end of the project.

The Hunter Street activation is part of the Transport for NSW’s business activation program supporting local businesses during light rail construction by reminding Sydneysiders and tourists en route that the Sydney CBD is still open for business.
