Richly illustrated ‘You Can See It From Here’ offers an opportunity for a cumulative examination of Jeremy Kirwan-Ward’s five decades of practice. With essays by John Barrett-Lennard and Margaret Moore who draw parallels to Abstract Expressionism and colour field paintings, the book is second in a series of artist monographs that reflect on the practice of West Australian artists. Kirwan-Ward’s collective body of paintings (1970-2017) lean toward expansive washes of opaque monochromes colliding with bursts of bold, statement hues. The overall tone of his works are reminiscent of remote, panoramic scenes of the Western plain and its coastal terrains.
