The ‘politics of listening’ are centre stage in Beirut-based artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s exhibition comprised of three major works Earwitness Inventory objects and animated text work, Saydnaya (the missing 19db) a sonic experience and Walled Unwalled a performance-video installation.
Personal stories, by what means one is able to communicate them, and how or if they are received is the axis of these pieces, which also reflect on the ‘psychological, bodily, and spatial world of the earwitness’ in the context of real-world imprisonments in Syria.
