In Inner Reserve, Sydney-based artist Lucas Davidson uses photographic ‘sampling’ to capture the Lake Macquarie region, including its land, sky, and water.
The artist spent time on the lake and its surrounds, to capture a sense of colour and light that is unique to the area. Special emphasis was placed on the ephemeral and sublime qualities of Lake Macquarie’s natural environment. Interested in “slowing down” our relationship to photography, Davidson seeks to shift attention towards a more intimate interaction that reflects connection to environment and place.
