Malaysian Art Down Under

The Asian art market is currently one of the fastest growing business markets in the world. Malaysia, in particular, has made significant progress in the field of arts over the past few years gaining global recognition with its unique blend of arts and culture.

Returning to Melbourne for the third consecutive year, Arts Kuala Lumpur – Melbourne, a conception of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), will present ‘Discover Malaysia Art’ at SpACE@Collins, a contemporary gallery situated on the first floor of the Mering Building on Collins Street, Melbourne.

The exhibition aims to connect the Malaysian art scene with Melbourne art lovers and collectors, bringing Malaysian contemporary art right to their doorsteps. It provides an important platform and avenue for Malaysian artists and art galleries seeking to create new markets down under, enhancing a stronger cross-cultural understanding and trade relationship between the two countries.

Sixteen artists, ranging from Malaysian pioneer artists since the independence to the young contemporaries of modern Malaysia, will exhibit their works. They are greatly influenced by the rich and diverse cultural heritage of this Southeast Asian nation.
