Marawar-ak | From the West: Contemporary Art from Western Australia celebrates Western Australian art and showcases artists working across design, animation, sculpture, drawing and installation at Fremantle Arts Centre (FAC) from 4 November 2022 to 22 January 2023.
Marawar-ak presents stories of regional and remote life, love, family, grief, choice, and sacrifice alongside works that map geography and memory through four exhibitions: Anna Louise Richardson and Abdul-Rahman Abdullah: Still Watching; Katie Breckon: Backtrack; Sally Bower: A Gift and a Shadow; and Tyrown Waigana: The RinDin Dai. The exhibition season includes a series of public programs and events, including Disclosure: Art Today in WA, a panel discussion comprising artists, curators, critics and creative producers reflecting upon WA’s artistic legacies, contemporary practice and future trajectories; and 4X15, a curator-led speed session tour in each exhibition.
