Tasmanian artist Mat Ward explores the origins of experimental music with a focus on early 20th century artists. As the recipient of the 2017 Claudio Alcorso Foundation’s travel grant, Ward investigated the life and work of Italian pioneer of noise art, Luigi Russolo.
‘La morte mi troverà vivo (In death you will find me alive)’ is a 90-minute piece of sound art that traverses field recordings and music composed using number theory, as an imagined conversation directly with Russolo.
