The MCA’s monthly event ARTBAR has won the Best Art Event at the 2012 FBi Radio SMAC Awards, held at Carriageworks. MCA ARTBAR has, since May 2012, forged a position as one of Sydney’s premier arts events, and a significant presence on the social calendar. Held on the last Friday of every month, ARTBAR employs a different guest curator each incarnation of the event, bringing a unique flavour to every ARTBAR. MCA ARTBAR coordinator Kym Lenoble says; “It is exciting that we have been able to bring this project to life as part of the relaunch of the MCA. In 2012, there were over 80 artists, DJs, performers, VJs, and so many more involved in ARTBAR. It is great to be recognized by FBi Radio and Sydney with only seven events under our belt. There will be lots of new surprises and adventures in 2013.”
