Michael Peck: Beautiful Barricade

Michael Peck paints objects and figures patterned with floral motifs inspired by traditional European still life works, wallpaper and textile designs – symbols of luxury, beauty and wealth. Each piece is an expression of one of two opposing themes – conflict or comfort – which in unity create a synergistic reaction that raises the curtain on broader issues of religion, security, psychological and physical borders, emphasising that fortune and privilege come at the cost of denying it to others.
