Anne Zahalka’s work involves deconstructing familiar scenes and re-presenting them to allow for alternative narratives that reflect upon cultural diversity and ecological impact.
This exhibition brings together key bodies of work from Zahalka’s extensive photo-media practice spanning four decades, and collected treasures from her archive that inform and inspire her. These archival components are incorporated into a re-creation of her house-studio within the gallery space, inviting us into the artist’s working life and creative process. Includes six artworks from the NAS collection and five new works created between 2023–24.
