Set out across three precincts in Melbourne City with over 75 participating artists, ‘Nite Art’ is now in its third year and is bigger than ever before. Formed in 2013, this not-for-profit event endeavours to make art more accessible, collaborative and engaging for new and broader audiences via an innovative event and digital platform. As part of a wider global dialogue there is an opportunity to create new conversations about Melbourne’s cultural identity via greater collaborations, connectivity and immersion.
‘Nite Art’ provides Melburnians and visitors alike with the opportunity to explore our city at night through an interconnected web of galleries, museums, artist-run initiatives and unexpected architectural spaces.Wander through yet to be discovered pathways with art, light, sound and technology as your guide. Or curate your own night, connecting with art, artists and the city.
In collaboration with the City of Melbourne, The University of Melbourne and Open House Melbourne, ‘Nite Art’ brings the leading lights of our artistic and cultural communities together for one night only.
‘Nite Art’ engages, educates and entertains as it provides an intriguing snapshot of the depth and diversity of Melbourne contemporary art. The project is part of a global shift happening in other cities, such as Berlin, Hong Kong and Tokyo, that is changing the way people view and interact with art. The one-night event recognises that art and culture are at the centre of a city.
