Indigenous printmaker Paul Bong from Far North Queensland is showcasing a series of 25 intaglio etching prints in ‘Error of Parallax’. This new body of work reveals ‘two lines of sight’ and highlights the resultant divergence of cultural perspectives amidst frontier conflicts, particularly in his homeland. Bong’s stories come to the surface in layers of collaged imagery that move through passages of time – early colonial regalia and weaponry and fragmented shields and artefacts tell stories of conflict that, for the artist, are forever present.
