Melbourne-based artist Richard Lewer has won the $100,000 2026 Archibald Prize for his portrait of Pitjantjatjara Elder, senior artist, and ngangkari (traditional healer) Iluwanti Ken.

Lewer had spent time on Country with Ken – who, with LeShaye Swan and Justine Anderson, was a finalist in the 2026 Wynne Prize – in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands of South Australia, where Ken lives and works.
