The Hughes Gallery is proud to announce that they will host the first international solo-exhibition in decades, of work by the late Chicago imagist Roger Brown. The exhibition presents work from each decade of his life with pieces from each major period in his oeuvre.
Brown is a historically important figure in American painting, known for his political and social commentary as well as his pictorial ingenuity. Brown used his accomplished and distinctive style to explore issues such as sexual politics, and his stark and open stance in his paintings has arguably formed part of the art world’s reluctance to come to terms with the power of his imagery.
